Fimlab Laboratories Ltd. (Fimlab) provides laboratory services and education for public healthcare units and the private sector in Finland. Fimlab is the largest laboratory in Finland, serving/located in 10 centralised hospitals, a staff of 1,200 people, and 110 sample collection points that analyse more than 16 million tests per year.

In this talk held at the Vårmöte i Klinisk kemi, Umeå, Sweden, 26-27 May 2021, Eeva Toivari addresses the need for standardised and automatised urinalysis and the benefits that Fimlab has achieved by deploying the UN-Series in their laboratories.

Fimlab implemented the Sysmex UN-Series for urinalysis in 2018. As part of the solution, there are currently seven Sysmex UF-5000 and UC-3500 combinations in use. Sysmex UF-5000 is also used for fast urinary tract infection screening.

Moreover, Toivari shares how Fimlab has divided urinalysis into three categories depending on the cost:

Urine chemistry using test strips with the UC-1000 and UC-3500
Urine particles/sediment using flow cytometry with the UF-1000i and UF-5000
Urine particles with manual microscopy
